Let’s be real, here: it’s easy to find the motivation to work out and reach your fitness goals during spring and summer. The weather is glorious, and you know that you’re going to have an opportunity to show off your physique at many points during the season. When fall rolls around, this begins to change. The weather is much less inviting, and unless you’re planning on taking a trip to Florida, no-one’s going to see the fruits of your labor! But of course, working out is about much more than how you look, so it’s important you stay on top of your goals. Below, we take a look at some tips that’ll make it easier to stay on track.

Get the Right Gear

There’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. If you’re attempting to go for a run in your shorts and t-shirt when there’s fierce winds and rain a blowing outside, then you can’t be too surprised if you’re finding yourself less and less inclined to head into the outdoors. This is where clothing gear will be your fitness savior! Load up the closet with all the right waterproof and thermal running gear, and you’ll be able to run in the outdoors no matter how uninviting the weather might be.


Before You Can Think

Even if you’ve got all the right clothing, there’s no getting around the fact that sometimes, you just don’t want to head outside. It’s cold, it’s dark…you’d rather be in bed! But if you make that choice all the time, then you’ll find it difficult to stay on top of your running targets. A good solution, therefore, is to be outside running before you have any time to think about it. Prepare your running clothes the night before, and when the alarm goes off, jump out of bed. If you think, you’ll only convince yourself to stay in bed, so just do.

Within the Home

During the summer, we’re always out of the house; in the fall and winter, we want to be inside. We want to enter that hibernation mode, and that means our gym membership can sometimes stand unused for a few months. The only problem is that it doesn’t take long for high fitness levels to slip away! So you might want to consider buying some home gym equipment and working out in the comfort of your own home. It’s much easier to take the time to work up a sweat when you’re able to do so without leaving your home.


Limit the Comfort Foods

Summer really is in our side when it comes to fitness. It’s so warm that we only want to eat light meals! The same cannot be said of fall, which is a time when we want to eat big, warming, hearty meals. But you can imagine what will happen if you spend too much eating food and watching Netflix! Carry on eating healthy, even if you do cheat every now and again with a big meal.
